(Under Miscellaneous Services CGI, New York is offering following Services: Attestation of Documents, Attestation of Power of Attorney, Affidavit for Child’s Passport to be issued in India, Marriage Certificate, Life Certificate, Birth Certificate, Police Clearance Certificate, NRI Certificate, NORI I, NORI III, Death Documents Attestation -Transportation of Ashes/Mortal Remains to India, Attestation of will, Registration of Birth etc.)

Following is the Consular jurisdiction of the Consulate: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. Applicants only from these states may apply at the Consulate General of India, New York. Please apply strictly as per your jurisdiction for which you have verifiable proof of address.

Apostille Convention: The Hague Convention, to which India and USA are signatories, abolishes the requirement of legalization for Foreign Public Documents. With the certification by the Hague Convention 'Apostille', the document is entitled to recognition in India and vice versa and no certification by the Consulate of India is required. The Convention applies to public documents which have been executed in the territory of one Contracting State and which have to be produced in the territory of another Contracting State.

The Consulate does not certify the genuineness of any document issued by authorities in India. If any document issued by authorities in India (such as birth and death certificates, affidavits, educational documents/diplomas, marriage certificate and Driving License, etc.) are required to be presented to authorities in the USA, these should be apostilled in India. It is not mandatory that the apostilled documents should be attested by the Consulate officials before presenting it to authorities in India.

GENERAL INFORMATION

A. Local documents like bank statement, salary statement, employment letter of the applicant, Driving License, etc. need to be Notarized and uploaded by the applicant and only signature of the applicant will be attested. On each document to be attested, applicant will mention “ I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONTENTS OF THE DOCUMENT ”. After that applicant will put his full name and signature (as per passport) on each document submitted for attestation.

B. For attestation of Indian passport, Driving License, Pan Card, Adhar Card, Voter ID, Educational documents etc., applicant may submit Notarized copy of the same. Documents which are not apostilled from India will not be authenticated by Consulate. Such documents will only be attested as ‘True Copy Attestation Only”. On each document to be attested, applicant will state that “I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONTENTS OF THE DOCUMENT” and write full name and sign, as in the passport.

• I-797, I-140 or I-20 (If approval is pending, attach a handwritten note detailing the efforts being taken to regularize status)

E. Fees: There are two options for payment of fees

Option 1: The fee may be paid online using Credit/Debit card/Bank Transfer

OR

Option 2: The fee may be paid through Cashier’s cheque/Money Order/Demand Draft drawn in favor of Consulate General of India, New York (Personal Cheques, Credit Cards, Debit Cards Or Other Banking Instruments Are Not Accepted)

G. How to apply?

You have below mentioned two options to apply for Misc. Services; you can choose any one of below-mentioned options .

Option 1 (Apply for Misc. Service): .

• Applicants are requested to read the above mentioned General Instructions carefully before applying for Misc. Service through PRAMIT Misc. Service portal.
• Once you are ready to apply for Misc. Service, please click on below mentioned “ Apply for Misc. Service” tab and the system will ask you to provide a few details such as Service, Mode of Submission, etc.
• Once you submit your request system will give you detailed information about documents required, fees, and link to apply for Misc. Service Application form.
• Applicants are requested to fill in the online Misc. Service Application form. At the end of this form, the system will ask you to select the mode of payment for required fees (i.e. Online OR through Cashier’s cheque/Money Order/Demand Draft).
• Please Select the Mode of Payment and submit the application form.
• In case you have selected online payment mode you will be redirected to an online payment page once you have submitted your application.
• After the successful payment of fees, you will get a pop-up message with Application ref. Number and instructions on how to send your physical application to the Consulate.
• If you have selected Cashier’s cheque/Money Order/Demand Draft as a mode of fees payment you will get a pop-up message with Application ref. Number and instructions on how to send your physical application to the Consulate.
• Regardless of your mode of payment of fees the applicant is required to send a physical copy of the submitted application form, online receipt of fees OR fees in form of Cashier’s cheque/Money Order/Demand Draft (whichever is applicable), copied of documents or notarized copies of the documents and a return envelope to the Consulate by Mail/Post: Consular Wing (Misc. • If you have any doubt/query/Issue regarding Misc. Services provided by Consulate, please visit our website and submit your query in PRAMIT.

Option 2 (Apply for Misc. Service through eCCSS Portal) .

• Once you are ready to apply for Misc. Service, please click on below mentioned “ Apply for Misc. Service through eCCSS Portal” tab and the system will redirect you to eCCSS portal.
• Please check the required documents, fees, etc. for particular misc. service without registering on eCCSS portal. Once you are sure that you would like to avail particular Misc. service please follow the below steps.
• Signup and create your account using the New User Tab. Activate your account using OTP received on your registered email ID.Please login into your account and apply for the required service. Users can also avail multiple services with the same account. After selection of the service, please upload the necessary documents on eCCSS portal.
• On successful submission of the documents, an electronic acknowledgment will be generated, which the applicant can print after logging in to his/her account.
• After scrutiny of the documents by the Consulate, the applicant will receive a confirmation for payment of fees, which can be seen in the dashboard of his/her account.
• On receipt of confirmation for payment of fees, the applicant is required to pay the required fees
• Payment of fee can be paid through Cashier’s cheque/Money Order/Demand Draft. Please send your application to the consulate along with Cashier’s cheque/Money Order/Demand Draft as instructed below. (Please Note: As of now, online payment mode is not available in eCCSS module).
• How to send Physical copy of the application to Consulate: Regardless of your mode of payment of fees, the applicant is required to send a physical copy of the submitted application form, fees in form of Cashier’s cheque/Money Order/Demand Draft (whichever is applicable), copies of documents OR notarized copies of the documents and a return envelope to the Consulate by Mail/Post: Consular Wing (Misc. Service), Consulate General of India, 3 East, 64th Street, New York, NY 10065.
• The notarized copies of the documents will be matched and verified with the uploaded documents. On verification of the same, service will be provided to the applicant.
• Any queries in this regard may please be addressed through PRAMIT available on www.indiainnewyork.gov.in.

H. PLEASE NOTE

• CGI, New York has no agents for rending these services and applicants should approach the Consulate directly.
• The Consulate reserves the right to reject attestation of documents, the contents of which are objectionable or contrary to the Rules.
• No Commercial Documents are attested by the Consulate. The same should be apostilled from the US Government Authorities for presenting in India.
